The Threshold (The Place In-between) - 2020

"The Threshold" is a video slideshow created by the community and friends of the Orthodox Church of the Holy Cross during the Quarantine Times of the 2020 Lenten and Paschal Seasons. It was completed over the weekend of Pentecost (June 6-7, 2020).


The music and lyrics were written by Fr. John Shimchick, Diana Pasca, Margery Cuyler, and Shari Garretson with technical support from Stephen Shimchick

Holy Cross Senior and Youth Choir: O Pure and Virgin Lady

This highlights the combined efforts of the Holy Cross Senior and Youth choir in this liturgical hymn to the Theotokos, written by St. Nektarios and translated into English by Bishop Basil Essey.


It was sung together for the first time on Sunday, November 5, 2017 during the Divine Liturgy served with our Diocesan Hierarch, Archbishop Michael.

Incarnation and the Church in Society presented by Professor John Burgess — Advent Lecture, December 14, 2014

Professor John Burgess is Professor of Systematic Theology at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He is living in Princeton this year (2014-2015) to write a book about the efforts of the Orthodox Church to bring Christian values into post-communist Russian society.

In this presentation, Professor Burgess examined the rebirth of the Orthodox Church in Russia since the fall of communism, reflecting on God’s promise to transfigure human society, and asking how Christians can point to “the new heaven and earth,” also in our own country.
